The position


The Shift Supervisor is responsible for coordinating the activities on his shift performed on-board the Cable Lay Vessel (CLV), including cable installation, survey, trenching and ROV operations. He reports directly to the Offshore Installation manager (OIM) on day to day operations and is the leader for the deck crew, subcontractors and other departments on-board the CLV.

HSE Responsibilities

  • The Shift Supervisor is responsible for ensuring all performed activities are properly risk assessed;
  • The Shift Supervisor is responsible for the safe execution of assigned activities and for the health and safety of all persons under his supervision;
  • The Shift Supervisor is responsible for the verification of the implementation of controls resulting from risk assessment for the assigned activity;
  • The Shift Supervisor is responsible preventing environmental damage and for compliance with applicable waste management systems. 

    Job Requirements
  • Making of cable cut calculations;
  • Organizing and supervising deck crews;
  • Liaising with the OIM and subcontractors on-board;
  • Understanding of technical and marine terminology;
  • Capable of instructing DPO officers regarding vessel movements;
  • Prepare and arrange for all administrative tasks on project base, as required;
  • Participate and assist in onshore jobs as part of Operations and Technical Department;
  • Coordinate mobilization and use of project specific third party hired equipment on-board;
  • Coordination and execution of project site activities performed by own crew and subcontractors;
  • Warrant that the project procedures / plans comply and are executed within the contractual, industry and local requirements in liaison with the Project Office;
  • Review project specific drawings, procedures (e.g. installation procedures, task risk assessment, work methods, etc.) applicable to the project;
  • Conduct tool box talks and as applicable Job Safety Analysis in accordance with project plans, maintaining communication with all parties in the event that any procedures or operating conditions change, endorsing pre-work checklists and site permits as required.

  • Boat-to-Boat Transfer  
  • Advanced First Aid Training 
  • OPITO BOSIET with HUET or GWO Equivalent;
  • Preferable a technical background in mechanical, electrical or civil engineering;
  • Basic level achieved through formal education or alternatively gained by work experience, with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in the marine and on- offshore industry and preferably cable installation.
