The position

We are seeking an experienced ROV (Remotely Operated Vehicle) Pilot/Technician to join our team on a research and survey vessel. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting ROV systems, including cameras, manipulators, sonars, and navigation equipment, to support scientific research and survey operations in marine environments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform pre and post-dive checks on ROV systems and equipment
• Operate ROV systems during survey and research operations in accordance with the project plan and safety procedures
• Monitor ROV performance and ensure safe and efficient operation
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues with ROV systems and equipment
• Maintain and repair ROV systems and equipment as required
• Work closely with project team members to ensure the successful completion of research and survey operations
• Document and maintain records of ROV operations and maintenance activities

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent, with technical training in electronics, mechanics, or related field
• Minimum of 2 years of experience operating and maintaining ROV systems in a marine environment
• Proficient in the use of ROV systems and equipment, including cameras, manipulators, sonars, and navigation equipment
• Strong technical and troubleshooting skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic and challenging environment
• Willingness to work extended hours and travel as required
• Strong verbal and written communication skills

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to work in a marine environment, including onboard a research and survey vessel
• Must be able to lift and move heavy equipment and work in confined spaces
